What we're going for

LocalJokes works when listings are accurate and the community is welcoming. This policy explains what is not allowed and how we handle problems. It applies to everyone who uses the site and forms part of our Terms of Service.

What is not allowed

Harassment, threats, hate speech, or targeting people based on who they are.

Impersonating a comedian, venue, promoter, or anyone else, or claiming a listing you are not authorized to manage.

Spam, scraping, or bulk automated activity.

Posting unlawful, infringing, or knowingly false content.

Any content that sexualizes minors, which is never permitted and will be reported to the appropriate authorities.

Reviews and ratings integrity

Reviews and audience ratings must reflect genuine experience. Do not post fake reviews, coordinate votes, or try to inflate or suppress a rating. Audience ratings are gated by a per-show code and are stored so one person votes once; they are shown only in aggregate and never attributed to a named person.

How moderation works

Moderation is scoped. Our team can act across the whole directory; venue and promoter managers can moderate the surfaces they own, such as applications and content tied to their listings.

When something violates this policy we generally unpublish it rather than erase it, so there is a record and decisions can be reviewed. Repeat violations can lead to warnings, a strike, temporary suspension, or removal of access. People who are blocked cannot interact with the person who blocked them.

Reporting a problem

If you see content that breaks these rules, or a listing that misrepresents you, contact connect@localjokes.com. Tell us what you saw and where, and we will review it.

Appeals

If we take action on your content or account and you think we got it wrong, you can appeal by contacting us. A member of our team will review the decision.

Changes

We may update this policy as the community grows and will change the date above when we do.
